Daily Checkers:
- Daily checking of compost buckets (2 by compost bins and 1 small green in courtyard near lobby door). Only empty into compost bin (far left) once the buckets are full enough to create a full, even layer in the bin.
- When layering the dried brown matieral over the food scraps, use a 2:1 ratio (brown:green).
- Also pull California Palm seedlings daily from around the side and front of bin (they look like a thick blade of grass) every visit.
Turn Team:
- Take out Cooking bin fully to aerate and mix up.
- Check health of the compost. Troubleshoot as needed.
- Hydrate every cubic foot or so when putting back in.
- Best practice is to turn once every two weeks but once during the month, or when Open bin is full, is fine.
- Team will also be responsible for rotating the bins if Open becomes full during their month (i.e., move Open to Cooking and Cooking to Curing).
- Open bin usually takes 6-8 weeks to fill up.
